ADOPTION CONTRACT
FRENCH BULLDOG RESCUE AND ADOPTION

by and between French Bulldog Rescue and Adoption (hereinafter called FBRA) and the following individual

(hereinafter called “You”). In consideration of the mutual covenants in this contract, and with intent to be legally bound by this contract, FBRA and the Adoptee agree to the following:
1. You understand that a two/three (2-3) week trial period commences from the date you pay for and take ownership of the adoptee. Should you feel during this period that the animal is not suitable, it may be returned to FBRA and you will receive a refund of the adoption fee of the animal less a $50 admin fee

2. If, after the trial period, you wish to surrender the animal it must come back to FBRA with the understanding that no money can change hands. FBRA may however re-home the animal and any money raised will be directed into the rescue of future animals.

3. You understand that a member of FBRA may inspect your premises to ensure the safety and security of the adoptee before and during and after the trial period.

4. You agree that the adoptee is being adopted as a family member and will be given extensive house privileges (i.e., be allowed to sleep inside the house, be allowed freedom of the house when the family is home, etc.) and will NOT be restricted to the yard at any time. You agree to provide Adoptee with fresh water, wholesome dog food, adequate outdoor exercise, affection and shelter.

5. You agree to abide by any State laws relevant to the safety of the animal during and after the trial period.

6. You understand that after the two/three (2/3) week trial period that it is your responsibility to take the Change of Ownership forms to your local Council to register the pet in your name. You understand that these costs are your responsibility and not included in the adoption fee.

7. You agree to transfer microchip into your name and that FBRA remains secondary contact and keep the ID details updated and correct at all times.

8. You agree to provide a secure fenced yard with ample room for outdoor exercise. If the fencing needs repair or modification in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Adoptee, you agree to make any necessary repairs prior to allowing Adoptee access to the yard. You agree to maintain the security of the fencing in the future to further secure Adoptee.

9. Adoptee will never be tied up on your property or elsewhere. You understand that restraining a dog by tying it to a fixed post or wire run is unsafe and may result in Adoptee being stolen, behaving unpredictably, or strangling himself or herself to death.

10. FBRA does not guarantee the adoptees age, adult size, or temperament. You accept the adoptee at your own risk. You are legally responsible for the animal and its actions under current Local, State and Federal Law. FBRA are not responsible for any death, damage or injury to people, animals or property which may be caused by the adoptee during or after the trial period.

11. FBRA must be consulted in regards to serious medical conditions and treatments. You agree that you may not euthanize Adoptee without first consulting with FBRA. If Adoptee must be euthanized, the procedure must be performed by a licensed veterinarian.

12. An animal adopted from FBRA cannot be sold or used to make any profit for you or any persons associated with you. At no time are you allowed to surrender, give away or offer this animal to a third party. If personal circumstances change and you can no longer keep said dog, it must be returned to our Rescue.

13. You agree to take responsibility for any costs incurred should the animal be impounded by council, RSPCA, or other authority, during or after the trial period. You must notify FBRA and pay to have the animal released even if you no longer wish to retain ownership.

14. You must notify FBRA of all change of address and telephone within 30 days of change.

15. You understand that FBRA does not test for serious illnesses, such as heartworm, before adopting out dogs. Any medical problems that Adoptee may exhibit after adoption, including but not limited to serious illnesses requiring emergency care or surgery, are not the responsibility of FBRA. You will be responsible for all financial costs associated with treating these medical issues and you agree to provide the best available veterinary care to Adoptee in a timely manner.

16. During the trial period, should the animal be injured (such as in a road accident), all veterinary costs are your responsibility

17. Should at any time after the trial period, FBRA is of the belief that an adopted animal is being mistreated or at risk, FBRA may seize that animal without notice.

18. In the event that you do not comply with the terms and conditions of this agreement, or in the event Adoptee is abused or neglected, FBRA reserves the right to reclaim Adoptee upon demand. You further understand and agree that any expenses, legal and/or otherwise incurred by FBRA in exercising its rights under this provision, will be paid by you, in addition to any liquidated damages required by other provisions of this agreement.

19. This agreement is the entire agreement between you and FBRA, and it supersedes any prior understandings between you and FBRA with respect to the subject matter of this agreement. No modification of this agreement will be valid unless in writing and duly signed by both parties. This agreement is binding.

20. By signing this document, you are swearing that you have never been convicted of animal cruelty or neglect, and that no one residing at your residence, whether residing permanently or temporarily, has been convicted of animal cruelty or neglect.

I acknowledge that I have read and accept this adoption contract. I agree that all information that I have provided to French Bulldog Rescue and Adoption is correct and true. I understand that failure to comply with the requirements of this agreement can result in the seizure of this pet.
