Maya is a diva.
When she came into rescue she would rush and growl over her food with her hackles up. She has learned that she can quietly eat her food in the security of her crate.
She bounces up and down on her back legs when she sees you. We are working on her stopping this behaviour as it stresses her joints. She bonds to her human and doesn’t want to share. She has learned the word no during her time in rescue and to respect boundaries.
Mya does have loose Patellas but our vets opinion is they are causing her no trouble nor pain, being the athletic lady that she is there is no stopping her in a flat out run!
She’s super sweet. Very clean, house trained and easy to walk, although she exhibits fear aggression towards other high energy dogs. She gets stressed and hot in the car and trembles when she is in unfamiliar situations.
While she lives with two resident Frenchie’s she would prefer a home of her own. We would not, at this stage, recommend she be allowed off leash in public areas such as dog parks or off leash dog areas/beaches. Maya is thriving in a calm, no-nonsense, firm but fair and loving environment. We firmly believe she will continue to improve given a similar home environment. We have not tested Maya with children and would not recommending she be left alone with very young children... this is a standard precaution.
She is sweet and loving and needs to time to develop into a true family dog given time and patience. Maya needs a family that will give her a consistent routine and respond to her consistently. She loves to please.
